Wow what a day of football for our teams today. First up our under14's marched on to a great win away to AFC Barwell, tough opposition but the boys were hell bent on continuing their plight to win there League division.
First up was Dan 7 mins in dribbling accross the touch line to tap one in off the post and goalkeeper.
After several more shots on goal Jack managed to get a goal after 30 mins from a fumbled mistake from the keeper.
Second half saw the boys maintaining the pressure and 7 minutes on from a Siyam inswinging corner saw centre back Cameron hot accross the gave of the goal and slowly approaching the goal line for Jack to firmly place it in the back of the net between goalie and defender.
5 mins later and Evan dribbled into the box only to be brought down for a penalty.
Tom stepped up sheer confidence and rocketed a shot top left corner. Pick that out thankyou.
Once again in the dying minutes of the game a lovely dribble from Evan straight down the middle led him tp hit a scorcher from the edge of the box.
A well done on a debut from Aiden showed he was up to the task well.
Defensively we were solid the odd few breaks fortunately were met by the safe hands of Harvey who made some outstanding saves.
Matty, Josh, Cam and Tom all performed well solid and even had shots from Matty Josh amd Cam.
Midfielders Evan, Siyam and Aiden played forcefully and dominated midfield securely mounting a flurry of runs and balls forward, plus having a few shots themselves.
Upfront Dan, Jack and Mass made run after run, crosses and shots were in abundance. Unfortunately the opposition goalkeeper and back five closed down fast and threw their bodies all over to stop the shots and making the scoreline more bareable to accept.
Now this week I have nominated Cameron as "Man of the Match" as he was confident firm and covered a not totally match fit Josh and still found time to have a couple of shots on goal.
Well done boys great confident win and you also showed dignity amd sportsmanship in not gloating on a comfortable win. Proud as punch as ever.
Big thanks to Danny for Linesman duties and Dave for helping today.
Now for our Under 13's. A very important win today as they were away to Desford & Catapillar in the Chairman's Cup semi-finals.
We knew it was going to be a tough game as they are placed in a higher League than ourselves.
Not deterred, we were prepared to take the fight to them. 15 minutes in and we went a goal down but we were not deterred shoring up the midfield the pressure was on we manged to gain a corner, swing the ball into the near post it was met by Mikaael to head home the equaliser.
25 mins later, Oscar took a corner which Hamed flicked on from around the 6 yard box with a scorpion kick and Isaiah tapped it in at the back post making sure it firmly crossed the line.
30 mins into the second half and Hamed's goal started from Fetrat turning a player deep in our own half before knocking a ball forward for Elijah on the left of midfield, Elijah passed it into the middle to Osayd who put a quick pass forward down the left wing to Isaiah. Isaiah ran a little before curling the ball with the outside of his right foot into the box which Hamed met and scored with his right foot into the bottom right corner. Both Ikki and Gus agreed this was actually the best team goal that they have ever seen them score. A few minutes later Desford manged to scrable another goal, a little dubious but it didn't atter as the referee blew the final whistle and we had secured our place ito the finals of the Chairman's Cup.
A massive well done, I am immensely proud of this achievement today and we as a club are proud that another one of Phoenix teams has made the final.
Lets bring this cup home and show Phoenix Army is a force to reckon with.
Thanks to all parents and supporters today always a pleasure to have your support.
